Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time of year to take the Peru Vacation package?

Peru can be visited year-round, but the best time to enjoy this complete tour is between April and October, when the weather is dry and stable—especially in the Andes region. During these months you can enjoy clear skies at Machu Picchu, Arequipa, and Lake Titicaca. If you travel between November and March, you’ll find fewer crowds and greener landscapes, perfect for photography and nature lovers.

What type of accommodation is included during the trip?

The Peru Vacation package includes carefully selected tourist-class hotels in each destination. All accommodations offer breakfast, private bathrooms with hot water, Wi-Fi, and 24-hour reception. Depending on your preference and budget, you may choose from 3-, 4-, or 5-star categories. You can also request room upgrades or extra nights in advance for greater comfort.

Is the Machu Picchu tour included in this package?

Yes, admission and a guided visit to Machu Picchu are fully included. This is one of the highlights of the journey. The package covers the train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the bus transfer to the Inca citadel, and a guided tour with a professional, licensed guide. You can also request access to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for an additional cost, depending on availability.

Is it necessary to acclimatize before visiting Cusco and Lake Titicaca?

Yes, it’s recommended to spend at least one or two days acclimatizing, especially if you’re coming from sea level. Cusco sits at over 10,800 feet (3,300 m) above sea level, and Lake Titicaca is even higher at 12,500 feet (3,800 m). During the first days, try to rest, stay hydrated, avoid heavy meals, and drink coca-leaf or muña tea—traditional herbal infusions that help prevent altitude sickness (locally known as “soroche”).

Are domestic flights included in the package?

Domestic flights may be included depending on the selected option. Usually, routes such as Lima–Arequipa and Cusco–Lima can be added as optional extras. If you prefer to purchase flights on your own, the agency’s team will assist you with the ideal schedules to ensure all transfers and excursions run smoothly without time conflicts.

What kind of transportation is used during the trip?

The itinerary uses modern, comfortable, and safe tourist vehicles equipped with air conditioning, heating, and seatbelts. Long-distance routes, such as Puno to Cusco, are operated by tourist buses that make cultural stops along the way. Train rides to Machu Picchu are provided on quality tourist services like Expedition or Vistadome, with the possibility of upgrading to premium classes if desired.

Is this tour suitable for all ages?

Yes, the program is suitable for travelers of all ages—families, couples, groups, and solo adventurers. The walking distances are moderate, and all major transfers are done by tourist transport. However, senior travelers or those with medical conditions should consult their doctor before the trip, due to the altitude in Cusco and Puno. The agency can also adapt the itinerary pace to each traveler’s comfort level.

What travel documents do I need to enter Peru?

Most Latin American and European citizens can enter Peru with a valid passport only. Some South American countries allow entry with a national ID card. It’s recommended to check requirements by nationality and ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. No tourist visa is required for stays under 90 days, and no vaccination certificate is currently required for entry.

What kind of food will I find during the trip?

Peru is world-famous for its gastronomy, and this tour gives you the chance to taste regional dishes in every destination. From Lima’s iconic ceviche to the Arequipa stuffed pepper (“rocoto relleno”), the trout from Lake Titicaca, and the classic Cusco specialties such as corn with cheese or lomo saltado, you’ll enjoy a wide variety of flavors. If you’re vegetarian or have dietary restrictions, just inform us during booking so we can make the proper arrangements.

Can I customize the itinerary or add extra destinations?

Yes, the itinerary is fully customizable. You can extend your stay and include destinations like Paracas, Nazca, or the Amazon rainforest in Puerto Maldonado. It’s also possible to modify the order of cities or add experiences such as culinary tours, cooking classes, or cultural exchanges with local communities. Machu Picchu Cusco Tours adapts each program to your interests, budget, and available time to create a truly personalized and unforgettable travel experience.
